Fake Covid Sites – Really?

It was bound to happen, but does this really need to happen?

When you are sick or questioning if you have covid.. as if that isn’t bad enough… now you have another problem to deal with.

One of my friends googled – testing sites and found a location in Columbus, went to get tested, and left saying something did not seem quite right. I was taken back and started googling fake covid sites and several testing sites are under investigation across the country.

One popped up consistently: Center for Covid Control Under Investigation

They currently have two locations in Columbus.

Search Google for that name and you will see they are under investigation in several states.

Apparently neither the FDA nor state or local health departments seem to have the authority to shut down an independent testing site, even if completely fraudulent. They are not registered with state health departments – and send negative results if at all and no info on the lab used…

There are many reports of suspicious COVID-19 testing sites popping up that appear legitimate but are designed to steal personal information from unsuspecting test seekers.

Do your homework before getting a covid test and if in doubt – call your doctor’s office, the health department, or stop by a registered pharmacy! Even if the line is long, go back later or book online.

Be safe friends!

Heidi
